Pop Art originated in Britain in the mid 1950s
before it emerged in the USA in the 60s.
A challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular culture such as advertising, news, etc... it often combines material sometimes removed from its known context with other unrelated material. The concept of Pop Art refers to the attitudes that led to it, as much as to Pop Art itself.
