...  the poem by John Keats, nowadays considered one of the major romantic poets.
The  sonnet    << "Bright Star" was adapted for Fanny Brawne, whom the poet was engaged to in the last years of his life.  Jane Campion based her biopic on John Keats' ultimate years and the passion he and Fanny Brawne felt for each other.  here is the trailer :

The film is on the French screens at the moment, and it matches the St Valentine period quite well :o)

"The Boat that Rocked"

http://www.ciklum.com/upload/ciklum/s1/images/events/New%20Folder/boat-that-rocked.jpg

got a most English title in France : "Good Morning England !""

... which became "Pirate Radio" in the U.S.A.

It tells the story of a fictitious pirate radio station : "Radio Rock", whose crew of disc jockeys broadcast rock and pop music to the United Kingdom, from a ship anchored in the North Sea. At that time  -1966 in the film-  the British government was trying to shut it down... but I won't spoil the film any further

"Mary & Max" was released in January, 2009 in the U.S.A.
(today, it's being released in France)

Mary Dinkle is a chubby eight-year-old girl living in the suburbs of Melbourne. Max Horovitz is an obese Jewish man 44 years old who lives in New York.
The lonely little girl and the man with Asperger’s Syndrome start writing each other. They get to know each other and become friends.

Mary and Max’s friendship will last more than twenty years... and cross two continents !
It will also survive a great deal of life’s ups and downs.
Though the film is innocent  -but not naive-  it explores various topical issues. . .  I hope you'll enjoy its trailer :o)

The man must be an art connoisseur...
A "pouring and dripping" paint work by Jackson Pollock appeared on this blog yesterday...
today it looks as if a new one had appeared !
And yet,   peer at   the illustration closely : can't you see the signature ??

"The Connoisseur"
Cover for 'The Saturday Evening Post' (January 13, 1962)
Norman Rockwell's signature is next to the man's umbrella.
We see the back of a man who is contemplating the (fake) Pollock canvas : the man must be an art connoisseur visiting a museum.
> > >    NORMAN ROCKWELL  was an American 20th century painter and illustrator.
He created everyday life scenarios for the covers of 'The Saturday Evening Post'. Like all the covers Rockwell made for the Post, the illustration is very realistic : it nearly looks like a photograph.

A collection of Rockwell's illustrations... enjoy !

Have you ever seen one of Pollock's paintings ?

> > >    JACKSON POLLOCK  was an American influential artist.
His technique of pouring and dripping paint is thought to be one of the origins
of the phrase "action painting".

Beware : this...
... is only a pathetic attempt to imitate him ;o)

Here is one of Jackson Pollock's genuine paintings :

Do you remember
the parody of "The Matrix" ?

Here is another parody : unlike the futuristic background of "The Meatrix",
in this animation the scene is set in present times.
Chances are you will recognize the film which inspired the animation below :o)
