"Snow extends from Northern Ireland southward past Dublin, and from Scotland southward into England." Its cover stops close to London : there, the expanded white corresponds to clouds.

... maybe both :o)

The film shows  HRH the Prince of Wales' new way of looking at our world. It was released on NBC  on Friday, November 19 at 10:00 PM.  The trailer (01'42")

And here is the   transcript of the trailer :

http://www.clker.com/cliparts/d/6/6/4/11970909541543419959gramzon_Pencil.svg.thumb.png

Below, a teaser from the film ; it includes a few short parts from the previous trailer and it is much longer (04'05")

Also mind >>>  the guardian review : "Prince Charles is right to speak up on climate change, but some of his ideas are completely off the wall [...] Harmony is far from the smartest book on the environment. It disdains, on sentimental grounds, big cities and genetically modified crops, which the environmentalist Stewart Brand  argues are essential. It wouldn't get reviewed in national newspapers if it weren't for its author. You wonder what the point is, until you look at the bare-faced liars who get airtime on behalf of climate change denial, and then think that, maybe, there is value in someone famous stating the basics once again.[...]"

In "Oil Spill : Lake Michigan Photos"

I told you about Jane Fulton's photos : they had us imagine an oil spill in Michigan too. Hers looks like premonitory work today :

Here is the transcript of the 36-second video from NBC news :

"And with the current sensitivity about oil, a  spill in Michigan is getting a lot of attention : a  leaking pipeline that sent oil into a creek, that fills the Kalamazoo River.

And while booms have been deployed, an estimated 848,000 gallons of oil has already escaped here.

Trails of oil sheen could be seen all the way down river far from the  bulk of the spill : it's coming from a 30-inch  pipe  that  runs  from Indiana to Ontario, owned by a  Canadian  company  -Enbridge-  who  carries  8,000,000 gallons a day. Officials say they don't know what caused that pipe to start leaking yesterday..."

This morning the President spoke on the news from the Gulf, emphasizing that while there may be good news, the work is not done containing the leak, and will not be until the relief wells are finished and functioning [...]

First, you can watch the video below and President Obama's speech. Then, use the beginning of the transcript (00'00" to 02'12")  and fill in the gaps with the missing words. Beware, some words appear twice, : one of them even appears... 6 times !

His opening remarks :

"I wanted to give everyone a quick update on the situation in the Gulf.  As we all know, a new ...................... was ...................... over the BP oil well earlier this week.  This larger more sophisticated ...................... was ...................... to give us greater control over the oil ...................... as we complete the relief wells that are necessary to stop the leak.

Now, our scientists and outside experts have met through the night and continue this morning to analyze the ...................... from the well ...................... test.  What they're working to determine is whether we can safely ......................  the well using the new ...................... without creating new problems, including possibly ...................... new oil leaks in the sea ...................... .

Now, even if a ......................  is not possible, this new ...................... and the additional ...................... being placed in the Gulf will be able to contain up to 80,000 ...................... a day, which should allow us to capture nearly all the oil until the well is ...................... .  It’s important to remember that prior to installation of this new ...................... , we were collecting on average about 25,000 ...................... a day.

For almost 90 days of this ...................... disaster, all of us have taken hope in the image of clean water instead of oil ...................... in the Gulf.  But it is our responsibility to make sure that we’re taking a prudent course of action and not simply looking for a ......................  solution that could lead to even greater problems down the road.

So to summarize, the new ...................... is good news.  Either we will be able to stop the ...................... , or we will be able to use it to capture almost all of the oil until the relief well is done.  But we’re not going to know for certain which ...................... makes sense until additional ...................... is in.  And all the American people should rest assured that all of these decisions will be ...................... on the science and what’s best for the people of the Gulf.[...]"

"Crude  Awakening"

by Jane Fulton Alt

To have us figure out  the impact of the oil spill on Lake Michigan shores, Jane Fulton Alt coated friends and other volunteers with a non toxic oillike substance before taking pictures of them. She surely aims at showing no matter how far we live from Louisiana or the Gulf coasts... we are all concerned !

The photo showing  an empty lifeguard chair with the sign "No lifeguard on duty"(1) symbolises the dangers of deep-water drilling, she explains : "It means that no one is really guarding life, basically," she said. "We're involved in risky oil drilling practices that threaten everybody and everything that is living."

_______________________________________

"Crude awakening" is a play on words : "crude oil" or "crude" also means 'pétrole brut'

This might look like a catastrophe film, but although it seems magnified, the process described in this video is more or less... true :

Animation & Design by Chris Weller - Directed by Max Joseph
Music: "Genesis" by Justice

(to)  magnify = to make exaggeratedly large, to increase in size, volume or significance
