When Radio BBC4 interview focuses on Twitter, Hugh Laurie...

http:////upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Twitter-follow-me.jpg... hesitates ("I'm not...") but then admits ("Well actually I am !") he is well signed up to Stephen Fry's(1) Twitter account... He immediately adds he has "purely unmixed feelings about Twitter"... you'll discover them below :

The British actor outlines "the social cost of every tweet" : when for instance, we happen to be bothered -in a restaurant, as messages are received or sent (from underneath the table !)- and our conversations get interrupted...

Google's domain : registered in 1997 -  Facebook : launched 7 years later

2011's websurfers cannot figure out searching the web without the search engine  -as for Facebook, Zuckerberg's corporation painted the word 'friend' quite a peculiar tinge !

Actually we can hardly imagine the Internet without the two tools. One even happens to forget Google and Facebook are tools that we assumedly control & direct

After all, products usually comply with our needs... not the reverse, heh ?

As a matter of fact, all these data  are true only in an industrialised world...

On March 21, 2007 "Twitter cofounder Jack Dorsey blasted off the very first tweet. What began as an experiment in "microblogging"  -no more than 140 characters, please-  has become a cultural landmark :

Twitter now has 200 million users, including tech luminaries, celebrities and the president of the United States. It started off slowly. In 2007, Twitter averaged just 5,000 tweets per day. But in 2009, the site hit a tipping point and became a broadcast channel for major news events.[...]"
