Are you looking for one specific TV show ?

http://www.clker.com/cliparts/4/1/6/3/12422421531787809556Flags_of_the_United_States_and_the_United_Kingdom.svg.thumb.png

The following webpages might be of some help when searching for British or American TV programmes and series...

TV series created for audiences in the entire United States :

http://www.clker.com/cliparts/r/F/4/P/9/A/plasma-tv-th.png   http://idata.over-blog.com/2/06/12/22/us_flag_map_T.gif

(TV series showed only in one or several American states are not displayed on this webpage)  ; a separate list contains the ones showed in Puerto Rico.

The webpage below lists British television programmes :

there, not only can you find British TV series but also soap operas, mockumentaries (= mocking documentaries), dramas, situation comedies etc...

The astounding growth of the Internet

in the last decade

There were 361 million Internet users throughout the world, in 2000 : this corresponds to two thirds of  today's Facebook users... but today, there are also more than 5 times as many Internet users (as there were in 2000) :

Facebook is one of the many social networks...

"Someone I  haven’t seen in decades just posted a snapshot of me

http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/03/15/magazine/15wwln-lede.graphic.190.jpg

on Facebook : there I am at 16, dressed in an unfortunate cowl-neck sweater, my hair cut to resemble a Semitic cotton ball. William Faulkner, I suspect, would love it — Facebook, after all, is the best evidence yet of the undead past. Ever since I signed up a couple of months ago, I have felt thrust into a perpetual episode of “This Is Your Life” (complete with commercials). “Friends” from nursery school have resurfaced [...]  I have reconnected with the brother of a friend who was killed; rediscovered college chums and colleagues from my early days in New York. I am by turns amused, touched and horrified by these gentle breezes and icy blasts from the past.[...]"

What are social media ?

http://www.clker.com/cliparts/c/6/6/6/11949837811166965397jabbear_01.svg.thumb.png

They create social networks aiming at helping people connect and communicate. How do they work ? The video clip below explains it... in  plain English :

  "Social media blues"
is a parody created by Scott Rodger

As for its music (and the -non- graphics of the video !)... it's not that sophisticated, for sure ! But it's rather funny ;o)

Listen to the song, then  list all the internet  systems  and  social  media  you hear in the song : there are... 10 !  Do  you  use  any  of  them ? Which ones, and what for ?                                                              You will also hear computer or internet-related words : match the definitions below with the words they define (in the song) :

wireless fidelity system = ......................................

when you're connected, you're .... =..............................................

indicated as incorrect online = ............................................

a computer expert/enthusiast = .................................................

acronym indicating you're having fun = .............................................

recent web system = ..............................................

modern sort of letter = ...............................................

someone   intelligent, but   obsessed   with   non-social   pursuits   (computer,...)  = .........................................

You've already got 2 articles on colours (October  11  and  12 )

with vocabulary and idioms mindmaps.

I've just found a poster visualising the colours of the main internet brands :

Quite an unusual way of analysing names... don't you think ?!

Below, a presentation explores how different kinds of technology users are related to public radio material. Some of the opportunities for media organizations now lie with new audiences using new technologies.

This slideshow was presented at the annual conference of Public Radio  Program  Directors and portions ; it was also shown on a webinar by Lee Rainie for 175 public media practioners for the National Center for Media Engagement (September 9, 2009).
