Simple  past :

* |d| as a general rule
As in : lived, arrived, enjoyed, played...

* |t| if the verb ends in the |p|, |k|, |f|, |s| sounds
As in :  stopped, worked, laughed, passed...
      and after sounds like  watched, washed... (find the corresponding
phonetic symbols in your textbooks).

* |id| in the verbs ending in  |d| and |t|
As in : decided, started, wanted, needed…
