July 17, 2009 : Walter Cronkite dies at his home in New York. He was 92 years old.
The anchorman dominated the television news industry during one of the most changeful periods of American history. He broke the news of the Kennedy assassination, reported extensively on the Vietnam war, Civil Rights, and Watergate. Walter Cronkite seemed to embody TV journalism and his iconic "That’s the way it is" would end all his reports.
