Boxing Day is a bank holiday and a public holiday in Australia, Canada, Germany, Ghana, Greenland, Hong Kong, Jamaica, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom and in some countries in the Commonwealth of Nations with a mainly Christian population. In South Africa, it is known as "the Day of Goodwill".

Boxing Day is not an official holiday in the United States and yet, it gets currently known among the Americans -especially those living near the Canada/U.S.A. border. When Boxing Day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following Monday is the public holiday.
