Be ready... the English you're about to listen
is quite different from mine :)

And yet, teenagers are speaking here : I've just stumbled upon this BBC video featuring pupils from a Londonderry College. Listen to Northern Irish pupils talking about the slang they're familiar with : click on the map...

Coping with both slang and Northern Irish accent... not easy, eh ? ;o)

Click on the headphones and listen to this short report...
Not only must punctuation be properly written... but it must also be properly 'spoken' !

As for me, Seth BRAU is a great graphist, for his videos blend gorgeous pictures, rythm and poetry. He's from Brooklyn (New-York).
Watch the video and... enjoy ! :o)

TEACHERS' LOUNGE
A 'collaboration-and-trust' model for schools, rather than a 'market-and- competitiveness' one !  : "Diane RAVITCH recants long-held beliefs in her latest book...

Once an avid supporter of improving schools through accountability and choice, Diane Ravitch now says those ideas have led education astray. [...]"

“What she says in her book is that schools work best on a collaboration-and-trust model, and not on a  market-and-competitiveness model.”

In September 2007, the Brtish duo  Mattafix  official website <<  sang the soundtrack of the film "Living Darfur". At first  the song was only downloadable ; it was the first music video clip  shot inside a war zone.

The first seconds of the video  feature an American actor you probably know... can you recognize him ?  I'm helping you : he's one of the lead roles in the latest film by Clint Eastwood  'Invictus', currently on the French screens...

Apartheid was officially abolished in 1991. And yet, the differences between the Black South Africans and the Whites still linger... In this film, the American actor Morgan Freeman embodies a Nelson Mandela who bridges the gap between Afrikaners and Black South Africans thanks to the rugby national team !
Here is the official trailer :

The film is worth watching, indeed :o)

Bright Star

Bright star, would I were steadfast as thou art —
Not in lone splendour hung aloft the night
And watching, with eternal lids apart,
Like Nature's patient, sleepless Eremite,
The moving waters at their priestlike task
Of pure ablution round earth's human shores,
Or gazing on the new soft-fallen mask
Of snow upon the mountains and the moors —
No — yet still stedfast, still unchangeable,
Pillow'd upon my fair love's ripening breast,
To feel for ever its soft fall and swell,
Awake for ever in a sweet unrest,
Still, still to hear her tender-taken breath,
And so live ever — or else swoon to death.

...  the poem by John Keats, nowadays considered one of the major romantic poets.
The  sonnet    << "Bright Star" was adapted for Fanny Brawne, whom the poet was engaged to in the last years of his life.  Jane Campion based her biopic on John Keats' ultimate years and the passion he and Fanny Brawne felt for each other.  here is the trailer :

The film is on the French screens at the moment, and it matches the St Valentine period quite well :o)
